Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 17, 2026

The Ordered Life (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use theorderedlifeapp.com and the The Ordered Life app (together, the “Services”), how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have.

1. Information You Provide

We collect information you choose to give us, including:

  • Account details such as name and email address when you sign up
  • Formation preferences, check-in answers, goals, and progress you save in the app
  • Brotherhood posts, comments, reactions, and reports you submit
  • Feedback, bug reports, and support messages you send us
  • Optional phone numbers and related details you enter for features such as Battle Mode SMS alerts or Advisor outreach
  • Messages and other content you submit to AI-assisted features (described below)

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit or use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information such as pages viewed, feature interactions, approximate location derived from IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referral source, and timestamps.

3. Account and Authentication Data

We use Clerk to create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and maintain sessions. Clerk may process identifiers such as email address, authentication credentials or OAuth tokens, session tokens, and basic profile information needed to sign you in and keep your account secure.

4. Subscription and Payment Information

Paid subscriptions and checkout are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes payment card details, billing contact information, and transaction records needed to charge for Monthly, Annual, or Lifetime plans and to manage billing. We store related subscription status and Stripe customer or subscription identifiers in our systems so we can provide access you have purchased. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers.

5. App Usage and Analytics Data

We store first-party app usage data needed to run the product—for example sealed check-ins, streaks, formation progress, Advisor conversation history, and related formation records—in our database (Supabase).

We also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand marketing and product funnel events such as page views, account creation, onboarding milestones, and subscription-related events. We may also use the TikTok Pixel on marketing pages to measure advertising performance.

6. Device and Technical Information

Device and technical information may include IP address, browser and device characteristics, and similar diagnostic data generated through normal web traffic.

The Services are hosted on Vercel. Hosting providers may process request logs and related technical data as part of delivering the site and app.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential authentication and session management (Clerk)
  • Analytics measurement (Google Analytics)
  • Advertising measurement (TikTok Pixel, when active on marketing pages)

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect sign-in or other site functions.

8. Push Notifications

If you enable browser push notifications, we store a push subscription (endpoint and keys) so we can send reminders and related alerts using the Web Push protocol (VAPID). Delivery may involve your browser vendor’s push infrastructure. You can disable notifications in your browser or app settings.

9. User-Generated Content

Content you create in the Services—such as check-in notes, Brotherhood posts and comments, feedback, and AI chat messages—is stored so the product can function as intended. Brotherhood content you choose to share may be visible to other members according to the sharing options available in the app (including anonymous posting where offered).

10. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Services
  • Authenticate accounts and protect against abuse
  • Process subscriptions, trials, and billing
  • Send transactional email (for example account or membership messages) via Resend
  • Send optional SMS alerts via Twilio when you enable those features
  • Provide AI-assisted guidance and guided prayer features
  • Measure marketing performance and understand how the product is used
  • Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Use

We do not sell your personal information.

11. When Information Is Shared

We share information only as needed to operate the Services, including:

  • With service providers listed in the next section
  • With other users when you intentionally share Brotherhood or similar content
  • If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or security
  • In connection with a business transfer, if one occurs

12. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following service providers to operate the Services:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management
  • Supabase — application database and synced user data
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Twilio — SMS delivery for optional alert and outreach features
  • OpenAI — AI processing for coaching-style Advisor responses and Guided Prayer generation
  • Magisterium AI — AI processing for doctrine-oriented Advisor responses (and as a coaching fallback if OpenAI is unavailable)
  • Google Analytics — website and product analytics
  • TikTok Pixel — advertising measurement on marketing pages
  • Vercel — hosting and application delivery
  • YouTube — embedded formation videos when you view them in the Resource Library
  • Browser push services — delivery of Web Push notifications you enable

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control how every provider stores or retains data after it leaves our systems.

13. Data Retention

We retain account, formation, billing-status, and related records for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain your progress, meet legal or accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. Specific retention periods may vary by data type and legal obligation.

14. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data we handle, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls for production systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please protect your account credentials and sign out on shared devices.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of certain personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a privacy request, contact support@theorderedlifeapp.com.

16. Account Deletion and Data Deletion Requests

To request deletion of your account or associated personal data, email support@theorderedlifeapp.com with the email address on your account. We will work with you to process verified deletion requests.

Billing changes and cancellations for paid subscriptions can also be managed through Stripe’s customer billing portal from the app when you are signed in.

17. Adults Only

The Ordered Life is intended only for adults who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit children or teenagers under 18 to create accounts or use the Services.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information and close the account. If you believe someone under 18 is using The Ordered Life, contact support@theorderedlifeapp.com.

18. International Data Transfers

We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where those providers operate. If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data-protection laws than your own.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and post the revised policy on this page. Continued use of the Services after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.

20. Contact Information

For privacy questions, data requests, or concerns about how we handle personal information—including AI processing—contact:

support@theorderedlifeapp.com

21. AI-Assisted Features and Transparency

Which features use AI

The Ordered Life uses AI for:

  • Advisor (also called Formation Guide / Catholic Advisor) — chat guidance for formation coaching and Catholic doctrine questions
  • Guided Prayer — generation of prayer text based on formation context and Scripture

Some other coaching copy in the app is generated by local rules and does not call an external AI provider.

What may be sent to an AI provider

When you use AI-assisted features, we may send your prompt or message, relevant system instructions, and formation or progress context needed to answer you (for example recent check-in themes or focus areas) to the AI provider that handles that request.

Why that information is processed

This information is processed to generate a response for you in the feature you are using. It is not processed for advertising.

AI providers used

  • OpenAI — preferred provider for coaching-style Advisor responses and for Guided Prayer generation
  • Magisterium AI — preferred provider for doctrine-oriented Advisor responses; may also be used as a coaching fallback if OpenAI is unavailable

Storage and model training

We may store Advisor conversation content and related usage metadata in our own systems (including Supabase and, on your device, local caches) so the feature can work and so we can improve support and product quality.

Whether OpenAI or Magisterium AI stores your content, and whether they use it to train their models, is governed by those providers’ terms and privacy policies and by our agreements with them. Do not assume that content sent to an AI provider is never retained by that provider.

Your choices

  • You can choose not to use Advisor or Guided Prayer features.
  • Do not submit information you are not comfortable sending through third-party AI processing.
  • For privacy questions or deletion requests related to AI processing, contact support@theorderedlifeapp.com.

Accuracy and pastoral limits

AI-generated content may contain mistakes. Do not treat AI-generated content as professional legal, medical, financial, mental-health, or emergency advice.

AI-assisted spiritual content does not replace Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Magisterium, the Sacraments, a priest, a spiritual director, or appropriate pastoral guidance. Verify important theological claims against authoritative Catholic sources.
